Difficulty Scaling
VOID STRIKER is endless, with no upper limit on stage numbers. Enemies become tougher, faster, and more numerous as you advance. Because unlimited growth would eventually make further progress impossible, most internal scaling reaches a cap equivalent to stage 8. This page explains the formulas in terms of their effect on play.
The “Effective Stage”
Every scaling calculation uses effective stage S = min(actual stage, 8). Difficulty therefore rises steadily from stages 1 through 8, while S remains fixed at 8 from stage 9 onward. Parameters such as enemy health, bullet speed, and firing frequency stop increasing at that point, although a few elements, including progression speed and spawn counts, continue to change gradually. At stage 1 every multiplier is exactly 1.0, preserving the game's original launch balance.

Telegraphs, such as sniper's 0.6-second flashing warning, and the fuse times of timed orb and mine projectiles remain fixed at every difficulty. This is intentional: warnings remain readable and avoidable, preventing higher difficulty from becoming arbitrary.

Boss bullet patterns themselves, including phase structure and the attacks used by each archetype, do not change; only their speed and volume increase. Safety measures described in the Boss Guide remain intact at every difficulty, including the one-second invulnerability during phase changes and the minimum visible gap of at least 80px in fortress's bullet wall. Once you learn the patterns, they remain avoidable at high stages.
What This Means in Play
Stages 1 and 2 have a tutorial-like ease and mainly use small formations of the four basic enemies: dart, sine, orbiter, and turret. New types fill out the roster during stages 3 and 4, while bullet density becomes noticeably higher. From stage 5 onward, newer enemies such as weaver, sniper, splitter, bomber, aegis, and miner receive a 65% selection weight. By the equivalent of stage 8, enemy durability is more than 2.5 times its initial value, and both bullet speed and firing frequency are substantially higher. The game then continues endlessly at this intensity, leaving room to improve your high score over time.
